Classes
& Levels
-
We offer a range of reformer Pilates classes to meet you where you’re at.
Our Align classes are suitable for all fitness levels and beginner-friendly, while our Dynamic and Jump classes are stronger, offering more of a challenge for intermediate - advanced clients. We also offer a Stretch class, which focuses on mindful movement and relaxation.
Learn more about our class types here.
-
If you’re new to reformer Pilates, we recommend starting with an Align class to get comfortable and confident with the movements.
If you’d like a bit more of a challenge, why not try a Dynamic or Jump class? Expect more advanced exercises, faster progressions and shorter breaks.
-
We are a boutique Pilates studio with only 9 reformer beds. This intimate setting ensures our instructors can assist and provide a personalised and focused experience that caters to everyone's skill level.
-
Reformer Pilates uses a spring-loaded machine to add resistance and support, which helps guide your form and makes it especially approachable for beginners. Mat Pilates relies on bodyweight alone. At Salt, we specialise exclusively in reformer Pilates, it's the foundation of every class we teach.
-
Reformer Pilates uses a spring-loaded machine with a sliding carriage, adjustable resistance, and a range of straps and bars. This gives you far more variety than mat work; the springs can add resistance to build strength or assist you through a movement to support your form, which is exactly why the reformer is such an approachable entry point for beginners. The moving carriage also challenges your balance and core stability in ways a static mat surface can't, while the adjustable resistance means the same exercise can be scaled from gentle rehab-style movement through to a genuinely challenging full-body workout.
Mat Pilates, by contrast, relies on bodyweight and small props (like rings or resistance bands) on a fixed surface. It's a great low-equipment option, but it depends more on your own strength and control from the very first class, with less built-in support for correcting form.
At Salt, we specialise exclusively in reformer Pilates; it's the foundation of every class we run, from beginner-friendly Align through to our more advanced Dynamic and Jump classes.
Who Can
Attend
-
Yes, you're welcome to attend our Align classes at any stage of your pregnancy. Just let us know as early as possible so we can tailor exercises to suit you as your pregnancy progresses.
If you’re joining us in your second or third trimester, we recommend an initial 1:1 consult first. This gives you a chance to become familiar with the reformers, learn any necessary modifications, and feel confident before joining a group class.
For a more personalised experience at any stage, we also offer private 1:1 sessions.
-
As a boutique studio, our expert instructors can adapt exercises in group classes for most injuries. However, if you’re recovering from a more serious injury or are in the rehabilitation phase, private 1:1 sessions are often the best option, but please consult your healthcare practitioner before starting exercise.
If you have any further questions, feel free to email or call us to discuss what’s right for you.
-
Participants must be 16 years or older for group classes.
-
We don't run a separately labelled pre/postnatal class, but our Align and Stretch classes are suitable throughout pregnancy (we recommend a 1:1 consult first in the 2nd/3rd trimester) and are also a gentle option for postnatal return-to-movement. For more individual support, we offer private 1:1 sessions. Note: our Pre & Postnatal Pilates Instructor Training is a separate professional course for qualified instructors, held at Hatched House in Hawthorn, it isn't a client class at our Balaclava studio.
